Channel Islands National Park - May, 2010
photos taken: ~400
So you might remember a few weeks ago that I won a photo contest with Fun-in-Ventura. Well, the prize was a trip for two to Anacapa or Santa Cruz Island, both part of Channel Islands National Park. My Personal Traveling Buddy and I chose Santa Cruz!
The day we chose to go was gnarly windy, so the boat ride to the island (with Island Packers) was like being on a roller coaster for over an hour! We had to hold on to the railing to keep from falling over. This was a true test of motion sickness, and we were both fortunate enough to not have problems with that. Others....not so fortunate.
We got to Scorpion Anchorage around 9:30 a.m. and explored the area on the surrounding trails before departing at 5:00 p.m. on an even rougher ocean! The scenery on the island was pretty neat with all the crazy cliffs and sea caves. I'd like to do an overnight trip next time.
