Lunar Eclipse - January, 2018
photos taken: ~500
So, I wasn't planning to take photos of the lunar eclipse. I mean, it was *just* a lunar eclipse. Blood moon, super moon, blue moon - whatever! But it was so convenient to point a camera out my bedroom window to catch the first half of the eclipse that I went ahead and woke up at 3:00 a.m. to take a few photos. It turned out to be cooler than I expected, so I looked at a map and found a spot in the Santa Monica Mountains that would hopefully give me a clear view of the moon setting over the Pacific Ocean. I took a little drive and walked up the hill as dawn slowly changed the color of the sky. And, fortune upon me, it was a perfect location. Two other people had the same idea; we exchanged greetings as I made my way to another hill nearby in the damp morning air and took photos until the partially eclipsed moon set.
