AIAA DBF Competition - Tucson, AZ - April, 2011
photos taken: ~2,000
Here are some photos I took at the 2011 AIAA Design/Build/Fly Competition. For those who don't know, I have been to all fifteen of these competitions! I competed the first three years, and I've returned every year since then to help out, mostly by flying for teams that don't have a pilot.
I posted more than usual this year since it didn't look like anyone else was taking photos out on the flight line. Also, since this was the first year of the competition to require hand-launching, I posted several bursts of photos to show people's varying techniques of getting an airplane flying.
Instead of only posting the best photos of the weekend, I tried to include at least a few photos of each team's airplane up here, even if they lacked the image quality that I usually try to maintain on this site. If you're on one of the teams and would like additional photos, just send me a message at [email protected]. Unfortunately, I don't have photos of the teams that I was flying for.
