Frequently Asked Questions
What is "adventure photography"?
Well, I think of adventure photography as being a way to take you on an adventure through images. Sure, a lot of it is landscape photography, but I also like to capture images of people as they enjoy the places that I go to.
What kind of car do you drive?
For most of the adventures shown on this site, I drove a 2002 Toyota 4Runner that I bought used in July, 2005. Check it out!
However, I finally traded it in (with 320,000 miles) and got a new 2016 Toyota 4Runner in April, 2016.
How many miles do you drive per year?
Here's a graph showing how much I drove my 2002 4Runner.
Which states have you driven through?
I've driven through all the states except for Hawaii. I probably won't take my own vehicle there, so I'll have to rent a car, I suppose.
As far as our neighbors, I've driven through British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. I've been warned not to drive to Mexico, so I stay north of that border.
Can I purchase prints of your photos?
Yes! Contact me for pricing.
Also, photo licensing is available through my page on 500px.
What's your favorite road trip grub?
I like Little Caesar's pizza. Their Hot 'n' Ready large pepperoni for $5 with no waiting is hard to beat!
What is something that you've noticed on your road trips?
I've noticed that PT Cruisers have personalized license plates more often than any other vehicle. A close second place in that category is the Hummer H2. However, the H2 is just about extinct, so the MINI Cooper is probably second place. I wonder if statistics for that are available....
If you travel by airplane, is it still considered a road trip?
I'm glad you asked. Technically, no. However, I still take a small road trip to and from the airport, so I guess the answer is "Yes."
Either way, I'll still share the photos on this site since I'm trying to capture my adventures. It's just that I take road trips more than airplane trips at this point.
Why DO you drive so much?
I graduated with a degree in Aerospace Engineering, so I know the kind of people that receive diplomas nowadays.
I think I drive so much since I'm making up for the lack of road trips when I was younger. I also see it as first-hand confirmation of the accuracy of my atlas.
What's your favorite road trip music mix?
I always like to listen to Tears for Fears, My Morning Jacket, Simon & Garfunkle, and America. It's good to throw in some Shawn Mullins, Bob Marley, Dixie Chicks, or Bon Iver, too. I try to get a good mix going for each trip, but those are the top artists that come to mind.
Do you do studio work?
Yes, I have done a little bit, and I'd be happy to do more. Contact me for pricing!
Can I be your traveling buddy?
MAYBE! If you're super cool and don't mind if I stop to take a photo or pick up a rock, we'd probably be good traveling buddies.
Can I join your mailing list to get updates when you add new galleries?

Where else can I follow your adventures?
