Kenai Fjords National Park - July, 2010
So I took a sweet boat ride out of Seward to Kenai Fjords National Park. We were fortunate to have such great weather for most of the journey. However, Alaska weather changes quickly, and it became a rough and cloudy ride back.
The whales really put on a show for us, and there was no shortage of other marine wildlife. The glaciers were pretty neato, too.
On this adventure, I met fellow Texans, Jerry and Jeanie Harlin, whom I'd talked to the day before at Exit Glacier. They're super-nice folks traveling around and living in their Airstream. What a life! Check out their website here.
Finally, if you are in Alaska and want to see Kenai Fjords National Park from a boat, I highly recommend taking the 9-hour Northwestern Fjord Tour given by Kenai Fjords Tours. Make sure you get on the boat with Captain Mark Lindstrom (who usually gives the 9-hour Northwestern Fjord Tour). That guy rocks! He's been at it a long time, and listening to his commentary is like hearing a good movie narration -- second only to Morgan Freeman, of course.
